The new Robin Hood movie starring Russell Crowe is set to come out in 2010. The movie also stars William Hurt, Vanessa Redgrave, and Cate Blanchett. A pretty solid cast, and like I mentioned in my earlier post about State of Play How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer ipod , Russell Crowe never does a bad film. The man picks hit after hit, and not because he is getting lucky by picking good films but because he is smart and a fantastic actor. He makes movies great.

In this new film Robin Hood, he once again is teamed with director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, American Gangster).   Ridley Scott seems to be on the only one who can deal with Russell Crowe’s ego I guess.  The pair love to work together.  But I kind of think that the “Robin Hood”  film looks like a complete replica of Gladiator.   Check out this picture, which can be seen at behindthefilms.net as well. I don’t know about you, but Russell Crowe looks like Maximus with a Bow and Arrow.  I can’t really say anything bad about this movie because the film is still in production, but I don’t want to watch Gladiator gone Bow and Arrow.  Wearing armor and using a sword is way cooler than shooting someone down 50 yards away.  Mel Gibson tried to become William Wallace (Braveheart) again in “The Patriot.”   I liked “The Patriot” but it was better when it was called “Braveheart.” And Gibson failed to resurrect Wallace.  Robin Hood will be good but originals are always better.   It will be better when it was called “Gladiator.”
