Rumors have been confirmed that American Gladiators will be getting its own movie now.  Based off the competition show we all watched and loved growing up in the 90′s, this Joes vs Pros, David vs Goliath action will be taking it to the big screen.  Watching the competitive little guy compete against steroid beats every week with names like Laser, Blaze, Hawk, and the bad haircuts to back it up was something I loved Saturday afternoons in the early 90′s

The show since has been revamped with the role model for what bad reality TV can do to mess up your life Hulk Hogan.  I was so happy when the new show was announced, watched the first few episodes, and absolutely hated it.  Everything that was fun, corny about the original competition sucked in this version.  They tried to make it more like a dram, soap opera, and create terrible corny stories for each one, and some events that just did not work.

My dislike for this new version is the beginning of what my dislike for hearing the news that the movie is coming out.  How exactly are they going to create a movie out of this?  My first impression is them to do a more remake of Running Man or even go with a Best of the Best 2 style of movie where there is an illegal killing game where people bet tons of money on and are entertained.  That is the only thing in my mind that makes sense.

The whole sound of this just shows another example of Hollywood taking a franchise name and turning it into something it should not be.  Clearly they are using the shows name to try to boost box office dollars exactly how the remake of The Karate Kid Skull Heads dvd Rocky IV dvdrip

is even though they are not one alike at all. 

Stargate: Continuum dvdrip What surprised me is the show giving the rights to the name away like that.  If the movie goes in the direction of a crazy bad ass fight to the death movie, it will kill (pun intended) the PG niceness of the show and will hurt the show’s ratings if they decide to continue with it for future seasons.
