According to a Radio interview with The Hobbit director Guillermo Del Toro
, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis and Hugo Weaving will reprise their respective Lord of the Rings roles in 2012′s anticipated film “The Hobbit”; McKellen as Gandalf, Serkis as Gollum and Weaving as Lord Elrond. The character of Bilbo Baggins is yet to be confirmed but rumors suggest James McAvoy (Wanted).
For those not fully aware, The Hobbit is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings film and is also written by J.R.R Tolkien. The IMDB
daybeakers movie synopsis is “Bilbo Baggins, a Hobbit, journeys to the Lonely Mountain accompanied by a group of dwarves to reclaim a treasure taken from them by the dragon Smaug.” The Hobbit will be broken up into 2 movies as well.
As a big Lord of the Rings fan, I am very excited for this film. I am also happy that the original cast who brought these characters to life in Lord of the Rings will be back. Sure, they could have recast the roles, but it makes most sense to bring back the originals.

I’ve been waiting for the Hobbit movie. I read the book and it was my favorite out of the LOTR series. Finally a movie is being made!
