Will Ferrell Vs. Bear Grylls in the Wild

Hollywood funnyman Will Ferrell took marketing, advertising and product placement to new levels this past Tuesday as he teamed up with Bear Grylls on one of his adventures for the show Man vs. Wild. Ferrell promoting his new movie Land of the Lost
that opens this weekend guest starred on the episode with Bear
, dealing with nature in the cold snow tundra of Sweden. This was an exceptional episode and was a pleasure to see Ferrell a named guy yet such an ordinary guy in this type of situation teamed up with an expert like Bear on this type of adventure.
I like Will and think some of his movies are funny and in a lot of ways think he is very overrated. A lot of people live and die by certain things he does but frankly I think a lot of his latest movies have lacked a lot. To me he is more funny when he plays himself and is natural opposed to some of the characters and bogus stories he has come up with for his movies like Blades of Glory.
In this episode you get to see the real Will, the human side, the funny side. He is put out on the limb and you can clearly tell he is uncomfortable and scared with the stunts that Bear makes him do. With that he still shows his funny side by cracking jokes, easing the audience and making him the funny loveable guy people want to see. A 45 minute episode shot over 2 days out there, and sure tons were edited and tons left out, but what the audience saw was great. I truly enjoyed watching this show and now see Will in a different light as he really went above and beyond to do something crazy to support his movie.
The Hand psp The Planets psp From a business and marketing point of view this is unbelievable. How many Hollywood stars would go out of there way and risk their lives doing some of the things Will did just to support and promote a movie? I still think Land of the Lost looks terrible and won’t see it cause I’d rather buy a good 6-pack of beer than waste 2 hours watching potential crappola.
In the times where buzz and word of mouth and users being online and talking at all different angles, I wonder what other crazy stunts and gimmicks Hollywood may do to promote movies. This was a fantastic tie in to his movie, I give him a lot of credit for doing what he did and excelling to not only show his human side, but entertain as well.
What did you think of the episode?

What a great idea. See, I don’t have cable or even love Will Ferrel but I would totally watch that episode of Bear and consider seeing the movie. Now that’s good PR!
@Nicole I agree, it’s excellent PR for the movie, as well as the show. I actually would like to see the show include more regular people more often. Gives it a new element.
love the acting of the cast in inception. very well done. leep it up guys.
