Will Hangover be Crowned Summer Comedy 2009 King?

It’s a few weeks into the summer now and I bet everyone has had a great holiday weekend planned. Nothing beats cooking up some dogs, slamming back a few brews, and if you have time, catching a movie. So far the season has been up and down. A few potential movies were supposed to run away with things, but bad reviews from critics and films alike have devalued some of these movies, even if they did rake in the cash like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Hellraiser: Bloodline dvd But as much as people like big action blockbusters during the summer, we also love our summer comedies. With The Hangover receiving a lot of hype and buzz that relatively lived up to it especially with all the funny lines in the Hangover it seems to be king.
But will it stay atop?
With a couple other comedies released already or coming out soon, do you think The hangover will stay crowned the summer comedy of 2009?
Let’s take a look….
Year One
Was released and sucked…big time. This was actually one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time and if you saw the trailer, you saw the funny dry humor moments of the movie. I gave Year One a bad review. The rest is Michael Cera doing his same thing and Jack Black over acting terribly. This movie is out.
Bruno
Despite the fact that they are did edits to keep Bruno R and not NC-17 and the fact that they are probably going to leave the funny Michael Jackson scene out because it will be looked at in bad taste, this is very anticipated. I loved Borat, and love what Sacha Baron Cohen is doing. This will be rude, funny, crazy, and who knows what else to expect. This has a chance to take the title this summer over Hangover.
Funny People
This is another Judd Apatow production, and in the eyes of some may not even be considered a straight comedy since it’s even being talked about with Oscar buzz. This is another dramedy type movie where you get your lines but the overall feel of the movie is more heartfelt and meaningful than what you usually get from comedies. Judd is basically gold at this point, but are people sick of him and sick of Seth Rogen Miranda hd at this point? I am really looking forward to this movie, and for me has potential to be the best overall movie of the summer.
What comedy do you think will be #1 this summer?

I think The Hangover might be the comedy of Summer 2009. Year One, come on, never had a chance and the only thing I fear about Bruno is that it’s been hyped up so much that it won’t be funny. I think Sacha Baron Cohen will always be Borat since nobody had ever seen a movie like that before, and with Bruno, it’s the same thing. Funny People is it’s competition, really. Judd Apatow has a huge cult following, while Todd Phillips has hardly no one since he did Old School. However Funny People, as we edge closer to the premiere, is looking more and more like a joke.
@Nick Yea, Year One never stood a chance. It will be interesting with Funny People because although it’s a comedy, it’s more of a drama. Bruno will be great regardless of Borat.
