The Blair Witch Project was a cult sensation that came out 10 years ago. Shot with a unique style and driven by an incredible online viral campaign pegging that this was in fact a real documentary, it captured the hearts of many and became an icon of pop culture in the 90’s. Many were on complete opposite sides of the fences on how the movie faired, you either left hating it or loving it.
Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 was a Hollywood dubbed sequel banking off the franchise name of the original, although had no real relevance to the first movie. It was also considered one of the worst movies of the year.
Now there is news that the creators of the original Blair Witch Project would like to make a true sequel to the movie, one fans of the original could be proud of.
Eduardo Sanchez (one of the directors) said this in a brief interview with the BBC.
“[W]e’re thinking about going back and seeing what happened directly after the first film finished,” said Sanchez. “I think it will have some kind of video element in it, but it won’t be a first person hand-held movie.” download Wing Commander dvd
Sanchez who virtually had no involvement with the Book of Shadows sequel would like to do it over and give the fans what they deserve Emma divx , and to continue the story from where the original ended.
After a 10 year delay, it will be interesting to see how fans react to the news and if the excitement for a true sequel will be there. Especially when the tactics used for the success of the first movie won’t be new, kind of like what happened with Bruno this summer.
I don’t like the idea of this. Clearly it sounds like the director hasn’t done any work since the original movie and decided to try to get some PR and buzz while sitting on the crapper one day pissed off after the image is still burned in his head of his sell out sequel and his lack of future after.
From a marketing perspective they will not be able to reach the same level of viral buzz and attention as the original. If they want a true sequel, they can’t even create a whole new story and try the same angle. In their defense, they already have a brand name, even 10 years later, and it would be easy money. I can understand why he would like the go ahead, it will be an easy quick buck. But this movie will be terrible, just like I thought the original was.
