Nicolas Cage Leaves the Green Hornet

Nicolas Cage was set to play the gangster villian in the upcoming comic book adaptation of The Green Hornet done by Michael Gondry and Seth Rogen.
As quickly as reports were out that he was to star in the movie, the news was quickly reversed and now it is official that Nic Cage has left The Green Hornet to star in the lead of two other movies.
With production just starting, people involved with the movie were worried about finding a quality replacement but they were able to snatch Christoph Waltz who will surely be nominated for an Oscar with his role in Inglourious Basterds.
We have reasons from Cage to why he suddenly left the picture…
Collider shares explanation from Cage:
The sometimes great, but always fun, actor said that he “wasn’t interested in just being just a straight-up bad guy who was killing people willy-nilly.” He goes on to say that “‘The Green Hornet’ was something that I wanted to do, I think Michel Gondry is very talented and I had hoped it would work but I think Seth Rogen and Michel had a different take on the character.” Flash of Genius movie download
Creative differences is not the first time an actor has left production and it clearly seems the case here that Cage had a different mindset for how the character was going to be portrayed. With Waltz stepping in to replace Cage, the movie gets a top of the line actor to play the villian.
The Green Hornet is set to release December 17, 2010.
Nicolas Cage has been a bum for the past decade for the most part. Even though I think he is very talented, he has put up a lot of sub par performances. I wanted to walk out of National Treasure 2, Bankok Dangerous, Next are just a few flops that come to mind. Basically Green Hornet would have potential for Cage to be his next Ghost Rider type of flop so in that sense I’m glad to see him gone because I do like the actor, and The Rock is still one of my favorite movies of all time. He needs to be more selective with his roles and can be a good character actor like proved in Adaptation, he is not the action hero or super hero and needs to stop with this crap.
What do you think of Cage’s decision to leave?
