Jump on the Oscar boat everyone, because “Where the Wild Things Are” is being more than well received.  The new Spike Jonze film arrives in theaters this Friday along with “Law Abiding Citizen.” “Where the Wild Things Are” is actually a 9 sentence, 330 word childrens book, that has been made into a 100 minute film. Some are calling it a “monsterpiece.” That is literally the term they are using.

Harry Knowles, of aintitcool.com says…

“Spike Jonze’s WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE is a staggeringly brilliant encapsulation of the intent and contents of Sendak’s book, but more so… of childhood itself. The result is a film of immense and unquestionable power that has the power to shake you more than any of you are really expecting.”

Christy Lemire of New York MetroMix Like Mike hd

says “Where the Wild Things Are is certainly as suitable for children as the book that inspired it, but it’ll probably roar even more loudly to adults in the audience who aren’t ashamed to get a little nostalgic about their own childhoods.”

Whisper dvd I will be sure to see this movie. With a star studded cast of voices including James Gandolfini, “Where the Wild Things Are” is being given a lot of Oscar buzz.

Only one movie this year so far I consider Oscar worthy; that film being “The Hurt Locker.” Perhaps “Where Wild The Things are” will join that boat. I will revert back when I get to see it.

Will you be seeing “Where the Wild Things Are”?

  1. I seriously must have let this book fly over my head as a child because I’ve never heard of it. But based on its wide popularity, it will probbaly do well at the box office. not sure if i’d like to check this out myself though.

  2. I am more excited for this movie than any other movie this fall. Spike Jonz is a genius director, and Dave Eggers penning the script with Jonze is even better. Definitely checking this one out this weekend.

  3. I dont truly know what you talking about right here. This cant be the only way to think about this can it? It seems like you know a lot, so why not explore it more? Make it a lot more accessible to everyone else who may not agree with you? Youd get a lot a lot more people behind this should you just stopped making general statements.
