Jon Favreau is no longer attached to directing The Avengers, everyone. The man who brought you Iron Man will not bring you Thor, The Wasp, or The Hulk.

The news comes from MTV in an interview with Favreau (which you can watch here). To avoid any confusion, here’s exactly what he said:

“They’ll have to [find a different director], because I’m not going to be available. It’s something I’m being the executive producer on, so I’ll definitely have input and a say.  It’s going to be hard, because I was so involved in creating the world of Iron Man and Iron Man is very much a tech-based hero, and then with ‘Avengers’ you’re going to be introducing some supernatural aspects because of Thor. How you mix the two of those works very well in the comic books, but it’s going to take a lot of thoughtfulness to make that all work and not blow the reality that we’ve created.”

Auto Focus movie download Hey, that’s not so bad. He’ll serve as an executive producer on The Avengers, which should be pretty cool. Favreau also denied the rumor that Edward Norton (a.k.a, a better Bruce Banner than Eric Bana) would have a cameo in Iron Man 2 to hint at The Avengers. No word yet on who will take his place in the directing chair. The movie’s happening, and that’s all I’m happy about, Favreau in or out.

The Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012.
