This past weekend I went home for the holidays to spend some time with friends and family.  Even though I don’t celebrate Christmas, I still love the day.  Free day off, and movies and Chinese food.  It was a great way to start up the nice weekend back.  On Saturday night I met up with friends I’ve known since I was 5, to go out in New York City and have a nice guys night out.  We still keep in touch all the time, but since we live in different areas now, we barely ever get a chance to see each other and go out and have fun.  So as we set off to the night, we started to have a few beers on the LIRR as we headed into Penn Station.  Somehow we got on the topic of the Vacation movies, and a nice little bantered debate started.

What is the best Vacation movie?

Sparky and the whole Griswold clan have been through many adventures over the years and have produced some funny classics.  Since it’s the holiday season and they played Christmas Vacation on repeat on multiple channels, my buddy got offended when I said it was the third in the series.  Now don’t get me wrong, it is a solid movie and there are plenty of Cousin Eddie moments to have you cracking up, but I just don’t love it.

4. European Vacation

There was a consensus between the group that Vacation was #1 and that European Vacation was #4.  The debate was between Christmas Vacation and Vegas Vacation and it had the group split.  The banter went on as more beers were consumed, and the fun kept going.  Nothing like having a movie argument over a few beers.  So what is it?
