Snap Review of It’s Complicated

Hey guys. I saw Nancy Meyers’s latest It’s Complicated last night and here’s my review:
A charming and thoroughly funny romantic comedy.
Alec Baldwin and Meryl Streep have great chemistry together. Baldwin is a hoot, and though Meryl Streep isn’t in top-form as she usually is, she’s good enough. Granted this isn’t the movie she should win the Oscar for (that would be Julie & Julia), her constant giggling and facial expressions is enough to get the job done.
Writer-director Nancy Meyers obviously has a fetish for rich society, and that’s exactly why the romantic aspect to the movie doesn’t work for the most part. Universal should have marketed the movie as a regular comedy, in hopes of succumbing to more money box office-wise.
Steve Martin isn’t used to the best of his abilities, and the ending feels a bit too dragged out. Yet a delightful performance from Alec Baldwin and a decent amount of one-liners in the dialogue help It’s Complicated be the guilty pleasure that Meyers’ other films are. It’s flawed, sure, but you’ll feel better in saying you saw it rather than the Alvin and the Chipmunks sequel. And just maybe have some fun along the way.
3 /5 stars.

i’ve been dragging my feet about this film because it looks like Something’s Gotta Give pt 2 (and a sequel wouldn’t be necessary)
