Bring the Movie Classics Everywhere With the TCM iphone App

Technology is increasing every day and the majority of video in the future will not be viewed on the computer, but rather the mobile phone. Video on the mobile phone is increasing in records numbers and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. The revolutionary iphone is always looking for ways to improve video intake and the new 4G iphone this summer that rumors have it will be flashed enhance will help make that true. For now we are left with some incredibly cool apps, and Turner Classic Movies has jumped on the iphone app bandwagon to bring us one of their very own.
TCM has developed an iphone app for $2.99 that will bring movie trailers, clips, pictures and schedules of the channel.
For fans of the channel, this ap brings the best of the website to the app. On the site you can view tons of historical data revolving around the site. As a movie fan, I am always on IMDB or Wikipedia looking for information, especially for older movies. As someone who had a James Dean poster in his dorm in college yet never saw Rebel Without a Cause till a few years post college, this type of information would be cool for someone like me to look into.
The schedule of the app lets you see up to 3 months in advance what the programming will be so you can DVR accordingly. For movie fans of the classics, this app will be fun to have, for others, it easily can be passed up. If TCM has the bandwidth to release full length features through the app, then the app would certainly be worth it. For now, a lot of this information can easily be attained in other places. Smart move on their part and other companies will be forming their apps soon if they haven’t already. As the iphone and app generation grows, so will the programming available. TCM is working on building an app for the Blackberry and Android as well.
