Top 10 Worst Movies of 2009

It’s been a pretty weird year for movies. Some would argue that’s a bad thing, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be. While 2009 wasn’t a great year for movies like 2008 was, it sure did offer plenty a variety of different films. Nevertheless, there were some pretty bad movies this year. Great ones have also come, but that’s not what we’re about to focus on. If you missed our top ten best movies of 2009 list, be sure to check that list out. The following flicks are amongst the highest ranks of Hollywood bullcrap. If you disagree, so be it. Don’t like it, don’t care. This is my sole opinion of the top ten worst movies of 2009.
10. I Love You, Beth Cooper: I don’t watch Heroes, but however good Hayden Panettiere may be on that show I’ve got a feeling even fanboys lost respect for her after witnessing this terrible attempt at a teenage romantic comedy.
9. X-Men Origins: Wolverine: The X-Men franchise wasn’t even a good trilogy to begin with, but still Fox wanted a spin-off of Hugh Jackman’s clawed persona. No surprise, it was an utter failure.
8. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: There wasn’t any guilty pleasure in seeing the mess Michael Bay left audiences this summer. There was only disgust and decreasing respect for Shia LaBeouf, whatever respect he had anyway.
7. The Haunting in Connecticut: The only “haunting” in my home state this year came from this lame PG-13 so-called horror.
6. Terminator Salvation: The only movie I saw in theaters this year that actually had me falling asleep, and it was supposed to be an action movie.
5. The Twilight Saga: New Moon: It’s the Transformers 2 for women; I just wish that one of the Hasbro robots would come onto the screen and end this torturous porno of a series.
4. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra: I imagine the net worth for the famed toys on eBay went down some after Stephen Sommers’ popcorn flick hit the screen in August.
3. Couple’s Retreat: It stole all of the jokes and situations from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, yet it still wasn’t even remotely funny.
2. All About Steve: An embarrassment for Sandra Bullock and, frankly, our modern culture.
1. Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail: I received so much crap for hating on the latest from obviously racist writer-director Perry in February, but it still didn’t stop me from giving Madea the top spot on my worst of 2009 list.

Again, this is only top ten worst. There were a lot of bad movies released this year.
This is an excellent list! I completely agree on the Tyler Perry issue. Great choices!
@Graham And the sad thing is there are plenty of other movies that easily could be on that list.
Transformers 2 for women. HA HA HA HA HA HA
Actually, I find that insulting, because I AM a woman and don’t want anything to do with the Twilight movies or books. Blech.
Otherwise, good list. I’m sure there were worse films out there, but I’ve seen most of these (all the action movies) and was soundly disappointed by them all.
Transformers 2 would have gotten my no. 1 spot.
Why do you think Tyler Perry is racist? I don’t like his stuff, but wouldn’t call him racist. Discuss.

@Debt I didn’t mean anything personal. I should saw that New Moon was aimed at women the way Transformers 2 was aimed at men.
I can go into why Perry is racist, but I’ll only use one example for now. His “Madea” character is one giant stereotype of African-American women, the way she’s always angry, she’s obese, etc.
@Nick, don’t worry I was totally NOT insulted by the New Moon comment, I was just being sarcastic. I don’t get the whole Twilight thing… really don’t!
