I think Trek > Avatar. The Trek plot was positively brilliant (especially compared to the Avatarded plot of that Cameron movie). They did the impossible. They created an origin movie, changing the character origins while respecting the canon of the original series and films. I was just blown away by the characters, plot and action of Star Trek. Its not a picture that would typically garner Best Picture buzz. But it should. Star Trek was so hugely enjoyable. I think Trek > Avatar.
