Young French actress Astrid Bergès-Frisbey has been selected by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Rob Marshall to star in the key role of Syrena, a beautiful and alluring young mermaid, in the next installment of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series. The title of the film is “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” Berges-Frisbey is a French up-and-comer and is making her US film debut with Pirates. According to Walt Disney Studios, beginning this June, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” will film entirely on location in Hawaii, Great Britain and Los Angeles. The film is stated for May 2011.

Also in recent news was that Orlando Bloom will not reprise the role of Will Turner.  However, Pirates fans do not worry, Johnny Depp will be back as the iconic Jack Sparrow.
