The Tribeca Film Festival (“TFF”) begins in two weeks (April 21st) and will be opened up by the Shrek 4 premiere.  In order for you to properly prepare for TFF, we at themoviebanter.com wanted to share with you some of the highly anticipated movies at this year’s festival.  As such we will be running multiple columns up until and through the TFF itself.  This way you can be more aware of what to see and what to skip.  TFF will also be the first time we will be covering a festival.  We are very excited.

The first film on our Radar screen is “Beware The Gonzo.” The film is written and directed by Bryan Goluboff (HBO’s ‘In Treatment’ and ‘The Basketball Diaries).   The film is a teen comedy about a nerdy newspaper writer who starts an underground school newspaper to seek revenge on his arch-nemesis, the editor of the main school newspaper.  The underground newspaper is then used as a voice to come to the defense of the school misfits who have been victimized at the hands of the main newspaper editor. The film stars Ezra Miller, Jesse McCartney, Zoe Kravitz, Amy Sedaris, Campbell Scott, and James Urbaniak.

Buzz around this movie has been top notch.  Anyone who has mentioned this movie to me has had positive things to say. I also love teen comedies. If you liked ‘Freak and Geeks’ or ‘Undeclared,’ this sure sounds like a movie for you.
