Snap Review of Toy Story 3

Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) are back in this 3rd movie of a Pixar classic, one that will entertain both adults and kids.  I still remember seeing the first Toy Story in theaters when it first came out years ago, and was equally as excited to see this 3rd movie.  It’s hard to believe it’s been so long for this franchise and yet I felt so comfortable watching the characters on the big screen again, and felt like it was yesterday I was in elementary school watching the first one.

The standard acts of characters is back for a new adventure.  Andy is 17 years old and heading off to college.  The toys which are supposed to be heading to the attic, end up in the box to be donated to Sunnyside Daycare where they meet Lots-o-Huggin bear and his cast of friends.  What seems like a great trip for them at first ends up being a disaster, and the cast then begins an adventure to make its way back home.  There are new characters introduced and they fit well, most notably Ken (Michale Keaton).  This movie has top notch animation, funny one liners, and the cast nails it again with the voice overs.  This movie will have you remembering your childhood, and clearly is the blockbuster of the summer.  I remember playing the video game on SNES awhile back and now am searching for a new game on PS3 to see if I can relive the enjoyment again.  This is a movie you will enjoy, especially if you liked the first two.  It may have been years in the making, but it’s well worth it.

  1. You already know some of my thoughts about the movie from Facebook, but I wanted to post them here too to gauge other people’s thoughts.

From a family perspective, it was a bit scary for my little one. He cried and asked to leave during certain scenes. Big Baby, The Clown, and That Monkey were kind of creepy.

In the end, we still enjoyed it. My kids have grown up watching Toy Story and it’s a classic in our eyes. The ending put us at ease that the toys would be in good hands.

    Great snap review Craig!

  2. @Sara I can see how a few of the characters could be a bit creepy for extremely young children. The big baby for one. It was an enjoyable movie, maybe that’s because I’m a big kid at heart. Do you think the ending left it open to a possible Toy Story 4 down the road?

  3. I think were all kids at heart! Wouldn’t that be awesome if there was a Toy Story 4? I think there is an open window there since the toys are in a new place, new things to discover, you know? What are your thoughts?
