Snap Review of Lottery Ticket

Lottery Ticket starring Bow Wow (no longer Lil Bow Wow) and Brandon Jackson (Alpa Chino from Tropic Thunder) tells the cliche story of a poor kid from the projects who lands the mega millions winning lottery ticket. Well what do you know, all the joy you’d expect from brining you overnight wealth actually brings you trouble. Just like Biggie said, “Mo money mo problems.” Who would’ve thunk it. Though every time I see Jackson on screen, the only think I think of is “booty sweat.” I think there is more to see from Jackson, who does show he can play the annoying but pathetically funny side kick particularly well. And come on, Tropic Thunder was that clever…but what was I saying about “Lottery Ticket.”
Oddly enough this movie isn’t atrocious. Despite an utterly predictable storyline and Bow Wow, Lottery Ticket is not a total disappointment. It does have its moments of laugh-out-loud jokes and straight plain ridiculousness (that was really the only way I knew how to say that). Sure, this movie is beyond stereotypically racist, but you go in knowing that. Any movie where Loretta Devine plays the over protective Jesus-loving grandmother, you know what you’re getting into; not to mention product placement from Foot Locker and small roles from T-Pain, Terry Crews and Mike Epps.
You are not missing anything here. If you want to see a racist comedy about the hood I’d recommend Friday or Don’t Be a Menace.
RENT IT
