Is it just me or has Chevy Chase fallen completely off the map in the last few years? When I was younger he was one of the top comedians out there and although he is currently on the TV show ‘Community’ it seems like Chase has been all but forgotten in the comedy world. So you can imagine my excitement when news recently broke that there may be a chance of a new ‘Vacation’ film. Chase’s ‘Vacation’ series has to be one of the most iconic comedic series in history, with ‘Christmas Vacation’ being an all-time favorite of mine (it’s a staple in my house during the Holiday season).

So what does Chevy Chase have in mind for a new ‘Vacation’ flick?

“I’ve written an idea that would be basically like a “Swiss Family Griswold.” There’s a cruise, there’s a fire on the ship, we think the whole ship’s on fire and we jump – it’s just a little fire – and we end up on an island where we meet Randy (as in Randy Quaid who plays cousin Eddie) somewhere who’s been left there from an old ‘Survivor’ series.”

I have to say this is quite an intriguing premise. While the idea doesn’t seem entirely thought out yet it definitely shows some promise if the original cast comes back (I wonder if Beverly D’Angelo would return as his wife).

Hopefully Chase isn’t just cracking a joke and he’s really serious about another ‘Vacation’ film because if everything falls into place correctly this could be a real hit.
