Memorable Quotes: Cliff Robertson (Spiderman)

Each year a ton of fantastic films are released, but which ones really stay with us over time? What really makes a film stick around is having a memorable quote.
It was a sad weekend in Hollywood when Cliff Robertson passed away at the age of 88. Who is he you ask? Well he is no other than Uncle Ben from the 2003 film ‘Spiderman.’ He also boasts an impressive resume that includes an Academy Award for best actor in 1968 for playing a mentally disabled man in ‘Charly.’ In honor of Cliff Robertson, I thought it would be appropriate to highlight one of his quotes as the initial subject of our new ‘Memorable Quotes’ column.
While Sam Raimi’s ‘Spiderman’ was a box office and critical phenomenon that spawned numerous sequels (and now reboots), there was one line in particular that was talked about for awhile even years later.
“With great power, comes great responsibility.” Sure Uncle Ben was really referring to puberty, but the metaphorical meaning that linked it to Peter’s recent Spiderman abilities was perfect. This line is the overall theme throughout all 3 ‘Spiderman’ flicks (and will probably show up again in the reboot).
So in honor of ‘Spiderman,’ Uncle Ben, and the late Cliff Robertson, please watch the clip below! Fast forward to 1:05 for the actual line.
