In honor of ‘Scream 4’ coming out on DVD and Blu-ray this week (Tuesday, October 4^th), I have decided to spotlight the original ‘Scream’ for our next ‘Memorable Quotes.’

Okay, so it’s not just because of the series’ fourth installment’s DVD release this week, SCREAM happens to be my all-time favorite film. Why you ask? Well, it’s the first film I can actually remember watching in my life. At the ripe age of 6 (I was clearly not a sheltered child), I immediately became engrossed in its characters, witty dialogue, and excellent suspense.
And how could I forget the iconic opening scene with Drew Barrymore? In a very Janet Leigh ‘Psycho’ fashion, the audience is absolutely stunned when the woman who was marketed as the leading lady is offed in the first 20 minutes.

Therefore, I had no other choice but to showcase this scene. So which quote did I finally decide on? It’s hard with such a dialogue heavy scene to pick just one. I could’ve went with the obvious, “What’s your favorite scary movie?” as this line has followed the films all the way into the fourth installment.

But I went for originality on this one, in one of the most bone chilling lines (in my opinion at least), our creepy Ghostface killer asks Barrymore via telephone what her name is, when she asks why he wants to know her name he replies with, “Because I want to know who I’m looking at.” It was a subtle line, if you coughed you might have missed it, but boy if you heard it, it definitely resonated.
