It seems pretty ironic to attempt to make a profit off of a real-life financial scandal as devastating as Bernie Madoff’s, but this is Hollywood, leave your conscience at the door! Despite tons of people losing everything, the people at HBO have decided to bank on the story of the infamous embezzler.

And who is planning on playing Mr. Madoff you ask? The one and only Robert DeNiro. HBO confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that they are developing the TV-movie, which will be produced by DeNiro’s production company with him also set to star.

Of course this is still in early development stages, but it seems pretty likely to happen and I’m sure it will dominate the Emmy awards upon its release.

But more importantly, who should play Mrs. Madoff? My money is on Felicity Huffman. With ‘Desperate Housewives’ ending in 2012 she’s definitely going to have a lot of free time on her hands and her talent should not be wasted!
