Bale, Affleck, Saldana, Shepard cast in Out of the Furnace

Well this is certainly a star-studded announcement. Relativity Media has finalized casting deals with a number of fantastic actors for their upcoming film titled, ‘Out of the Furnace.’ Academy Award Winner Christian Bale, Academy Award nominated Casey Affleck, Avatar’s Zoe Saldana, and Academy Award nominated Sam Shepard, have all officially joined the film that is being helmed by writer/director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart).

Bale will take on the lead role of Russell Baze with Affleck portraying his younger brother Rodney. Saldana will be playing Lena Warren, the love interest of Bale, and Shepard will play the two Baze’s uncle, Red.

The film is a drama about fate, circumstance, and redemption. Russell and his younger brother live in the economically depressed Rust Belt, and have always dreamed of escaping and finding better lives. But when a cruel twist of fate lands Russell in prison, his brother is lured into one of the most violent and ruthless crime rings in the Northeast – a mistake that will almost cost him everything.  Once released, Russell must choose between his own freedom, or risk it all to seek justice.

Not sure if that plot has me jumping for joy (sounds kind of depressing?) but with a cast like that I’m not sure if I can resist. And I’m sure with these A-listers on board there will be more actors quickly joining the roster. Filming is set to begin this month in Pennsylvania, stay tuned for an announcement on the release date.

Does this cast have you excited Banters?
