The apocalypse is coming, the apocalypse is coming! The Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg-written The Apocalypse, that is. What’s that I say? Well, get ready for great news in the comedic world of movies. From the writers that brought you Superbad and Pineapple Express, comes a brand new film about well, er, the apocalypse. That’s right, the title does not lie.
This is very exciting news, especially for me, because if there’s one topic I love covered in films, it’s the apocalypse. I mean, when it deals with such a topic I just count these movies as research (for the inevitable obviously).
But wait, that’s not all! Nope, the good news just keeps on coming. Not only are Rogen and Goldberg giving us a brand-new take on end-of-the-world drama, but they are also showing us how the Apatow-crowd would deal with the apocalypse (zombie or otherwise). Yes, that’s right. Not only is this going to be a fun-new-interesting take on the apocalypse, but it is also going to be laden with people one expects to be in a Rogen-Goldberg written film. As The Playlist is reporting, the following people are expected to make appearances (big or small) in the movie about the end of the world, superbad style: Rogen, himself, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel and, newly added to the cast, Aziz Ansari. Sounds pretty fantastic!
Well, it gets just a little bit better (if you can believe that), because as Ansari has confirmed, all actors will be playing themselves. So, if you’ve ever wondered how someone in Knocked Up would act if the apocalypse occurred while partying at James Franco’s house (the set-up to The Apocalypse), you need to look no further. And even if you have never once wondered to yourself, “Would Jonah Hill be a good end-of-the-world-partner,” it sure will be fun to find out.
The Apocalypse is set for release on June 14, 2013. Hopefully the end of the world doesn’t come sooner.
