2012 MTV Movie Award Nominations, Hunger Games vs Harry Potter

The 2012 MTV Movie Award Nominations have been announced and to tell you the truth, I’m pleasantly surprised by them! MTV recently announced they would be using industry experts to compile their list of nominees and it looks like they weren’t kidding. While last year the ‘Twilight’ films swept the awards with a whopping 8 nominations, this year they garnered a mere 2 (for Best Movie and Best Kiss respectively). I think this is definitely a step in the right direction. It’s not that I hate the ‘Twilight’ movies, I just think there are a lot more deserving films that could be nominated – ’The Hunger Games,’ ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Bridesmaids’ – all films that have scored a ton of nominations this year! Sure, some of the nominees are still a bit puzzling (Channing Tatum for Best Actor, really?) but it’s a serious improvement. Check out the full list of nominees below:
