Psycho Prequel Coming to TV

It looks like we will be seeing a lot more horror on our television in the near future. With the success of shows like ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘The Walking Dead’ TV execs are looking to jump on the bandwagon! We already heard awhile back about a Hannibal Lecter series being brought to NBC but now we have a new addition to the horror/TV world, a prequel to ‘Psycho’! A&E along with Lost’s Carlton Cuse will be taking a stab (no pun intended) at the  late Alfred Hitchock classic. It will apparently be titled ‘Bates Motel’ and will follow a contemporary exploration  of Norman Bates’ formative years. It will explore his relationship with his mother, Norma, and offer a look at the back story that helped forge the famed serial killer.

It will premiere sometime in 2013 with 10 episodes. I dont know about you Banters but this information has me absolutely thrilled. ‘Psycho’ is undeniably one of the best horror films ever made and with all the countless sequels the film has had (not to mention the dreadful Gus Van Sant remake) I think it is time to explore some new territory with this material. I’m sure many die-hard fans would rather the franchise be left alone but let’s face it, Hollywood is out of new ideas so there is nothing we can do about it but look on the bright side!

So Banters, who do you think should play the infamous Norman Bates?! Nobody could top Anthony Perkins I’m sure.
