It seems like its been ages since Ridley Scott’s prequel to Alien’s, ‘Prometheus’ was released in theaters. Partially because box office juggernauts like ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ have overshadowed it, but ‘Prometheus’ was a wonderful film nonetheless. With mostly positive reviews, a stellar cast, and phenomenal special effects, the film was certainly not to be missed! While the trailer for the film had me thinking it would be the best movie of the year, it sadly wasn’t, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t love the film. And as I left the theater I found myself wanting more (especially with such an open-ended finale). And it looks like I will be getting just that. Fox has confirmed that ‘Prometheus 2′ is official and will hit theaters in either 2014 or 2015! Ridley Scott is back on board as are Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender. The only one still up in the air is screenwriter Damon Lindelof, but that might be for the best as there were some issues with the screenplay in my opinion.
Upon announcing the film, Emma Watts, the president of production at Fox stated, “Ridley is incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can’t rush it.” And to me, that is the best possible news. It is never a good idea to rush a film and I am absolutely thrilled that Fox is acknowledging that quality is more important than just money.
Here’s hoping we get a fantastic follow-up to a great film!
