Trailer Round-Up! 7/29-8/5

On this lovely summer week we were treated to a bundle of new trailers for some upcoming films! Three in particular caught my attention, all very different movies. So let’s take a look at all 3 and see what looks like a LOOKS GOOD, NOT SURE YET, or LOOKS BAD!
Paranormal Activity 4
First up is the 4th entry in the ever popular found-footage horror franchise ‘Paranormal Activity.’ While the first 3 films in the series all followed different members of the same family, this one looks to be going in a different route. While still connected to its predecessors, those haunted this time appear to be complete strangers to the family, although I’m sure there’s a twist involved. Either way the trailer looks decent, but pretty much exactly the same as the others just not as creative. For me this franchise was over after part 2, and then I changed my opinion because part 3 took an interesting route (a prequel to the first 2). Maybe I’ll feel differently after I see it, because let’s face it, any horror fan will for sure be seeing this in theaters. NOT SURE YET
Bachelorettes (Red-Band Trailer)
At a first glance this film looks like a total rip off of ‘Bridesmaids.’ A raunchy comedy about a group of bridesmaids acting out of control before a wedding. Seriously, that synopsis can fit for both films! But for some reason after watching this trailer I have to admit I want to see this. I absolutely love the cast, it’s so great to see Kirsten Dunst in a fun role and Lizzy Kaplan and Isla Fisher look like they will steal the show. Plus it’s got Adam Scott, James Marsden, and Rebel Wilson, I seriously love everyone in this cast. Let’s just cross our fingers it’s not a complete carbon copy of Bridesmaids. LOOKS GOOD.
The Paperboy
Similar to ‘Bachelorettes,’ I’m really looking forward to this film primarily because of the cast. Zac Efron is taking on meatier roles which I love, you can’t go wrong with John Cusack, and Nicole Kidman looks like she nailed this character. The story looks very gritty and Lee Daniels is a very accomplished director so I have faith. But, a part of me feels like the performances may be the best thing about this film and it has me a little worried. Nonetheless, whether the film will actually be good is a question for when it comes to theaters, for now I can only go off of the trailer. LOOKS GOOD.
And there you have it Banters! Thankfully no trailers released this weekend look bad and that’s always a good thing for movie lovers. But part of the magic of advertising is a trailer is often not the best represetnation of a film so we will finally know the truth when each film is released. Stay tuned for more info on ‘Paranormal Activity 4, Bachelorette, and The Paperboy!
Which film looks the best to you Banters?
