TheMovieBanter.com was founded in January 2009. Here at TheMovieBanter we review movies in theaters, chat about the classics, promote independent film, talk about social media’s impact, analyze marketing campaigns, cover festivals, offer fun facts on your favorite films, rant about miscellaneous industry related topics, and most importantly provide a channel for you to voice your opinions. Matt Rosenberg – CEO/Co-Founder/Editor in Chief

I am a Long Island bred New Yorker who graduated from Washington University in St Louis in 2007 where I concentrated in accounting and finance. I am now studying for my MBA at UCLA Anderson. I co-founded TheMovieBanter.com in 2009 over a simple phone call.

My passions in life, while there are many, include both sports and movies. I am huge NY Yankees, Giants and Knicks fan. Watching movies is one of my favorite things to do. I love talking about them, critiquing them, quoting them, and researching them. Now I get to work in the industry, which makes movies that much more a part of my life.

My Favorite Movies are: The Lord of the Rings, Braveheart, Rocky, The Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, The Matrix, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Something the Lord Made

Nick Poyner – Senior Writer

I am a Los Angeles native who has been spending the last few years in New York going to school.

I love Movies and TV shows with twist endings unless they are The Happening.

I don’t think Tarantino can make a bad film or Springsteen can make a bad album. This is on the basis that they are just physically not able to.

Born and raised in New York, I am now attending NYU because I can’t get enough of this city.

Alia Haddad – Writer

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, but have spent the last five years in New York going to school. I am currently working on my MA in Cinema Studies from NYU.

Fittingly, I am an avid movie-goer. I am a big fan of genres with the horror, action and western ranking in my top three. You can also count on me for loving an 90′s film ever made. EVER.

Ron Ashley – Writer

Ron Ashley is a film industry dropout who, naturally, applied to medical school after leaving his job at a premier talent agency. They say approximately 1 out of every 20,000,000 assistants makes this particular career transition, making Ron possibly the only person ever. Only a true masochist would serve as an agent’s assistant for 2 years and then voluntarily sign up for many years of intense studying, sleep deprivation, and generally nasty stuff.

Half man and half horse, Ron is a member of a species known as the centaur. He grew up in the tropical paradise of Long Island, where going to the movies was one of the only fun things to do, explaining his longtime infatuation with film. It was in his native land of Long Island that Ron developed a strong appreciation for Pic ‘n Mix candy, but of all the standard movie snacks, Ron favors Junior Mints, with Goobers as a close second. Okay, the centaur thing was made up, but everything else is true.
