In honor of the Blu Ray combo pack release of BEN HUR this Tuesday 9/27/11, we are teaming up with Warner Bros to do a giveaway of the 50th anniversary box set of the film.

Starring Hollywood legend Charlton Heston, Ben Hur won best picture in 1959.

Did You Know: It’s Kind of a Funny Story

Did you know that Ryan Fleck & Anna Boden’s new film, It’s Kind of a Funny Story (starring Zach Galifianakis), was originaly set up at Paramount? After producer Kevin Misher’s production deal at Paramount ended in mid-2009, Paramount decided to let the project go, selling it to Focus Features and Wayfare Entertainment, an indie financier.

Let’s see how this one pans out… Fleck & Boden are filmmakers to watch and likely Oscar winners at some point. This could be their first mainstream breakout picture. Keep in mind that Paramount is the same studio that willingly gave up the Twilight franchise to Summit, thinking it wasn’t going to be a hit. Someone must’ve been fired over that one.

The Movie Banter has been cruising lately. We made a solid impression at Tribeca, have seen tons of movies, the sites been growing, and now we are looking to bring in an intern to work with us to help expand our site with writing and work on social media. We started this blog because we love to banter about movies with one another, and have enjoyed bantering with all of you for the past year and a half. I certainly can’t wait for things ahead, and so should you. This summer marks some big movies that are coming out, with Iron Man 2 most recently opening up. To start out the summer movie bang, we are going to have a T-shirt giveaway.

The Movie Banter is going to give out 3 t-shirt’s to three of our readers.

Star Trek DVD Giveaway

Star Trek, the new J.J. Abrams directed blockbuster movie of the summer is finally out on DVD/Blu Ray after a long wait. This movie had everything you could possibly want: good acting, cool story, sick special effects, cool sound effects and hot girls. When I saw this back in May it was clearly the best movie of the year up to that point and I said that no movie would top it over the summer, and in my opinion none did. This movie was great, and now we want to give one lucky winner the chance to watch it over and over again on DVD.

I Love You Man DVD Giveaway Winner

Thanks for everyone who participated in our first ever DVD Giveaway. It was a lot of fun hearing who you thought was better between Paul Rudd and Jason Segel and I have not made up my mind on it yet because in their own different ways are both great.

We selected one person at random and the winner of the DVD Giveaway for I Love You Man is Garrett Hargrove.

Good Hair movie We will be having more contests in the future for DVD,s t-shirts, gift certificates and more. It’s a pleasure to see the new faces on the Facebook fan page and feel free to tell others to join as well. Everyone likes a good comedy. I Love You Man has been one of the better comedies this year, and was recently released on DVD. It’s the type of movie that you can turn on to one Sunday afternoon when bored and watch at the midway point and enjoy.

I am personally a fan of both these guys not just in this movie but in their other works as well, even Rudd back in his Clueless days. And How I Met Your Mother is one of the funniest sitcoms on TV and Segel is great in it.
