Well Banterers, it’s here. The red band trailer for the new found-footage exorcism film The Devil Inside has just been released. And not that you all have been waiting for this with baited breath the way many do with say a Harry Potter or Twilight trailer, but this trailer really does hold up to its end of the bargain. That is, this trailer manages to make what in all probability will just be another found-footage exorcism movie (a la The Last Exorcism?) look like it might just be a fun scary movie with a new twist on the whole exorcism plot.

And what’s even better? Well, the red band trailer seems to elaborate on the actual plot a bit more than the official trailer did. So now, it looks like we not only have a run-of-the-mill possessed woman getting exercised film, but also possibly all of Catholic Italy becoming possessed and killing things. Sounds like a jolly good time to me!

As seems to be the case with most found-footage films (Paranormal Activity, Quarantine, The Last Exorcism, etc.), William Brent Bell’s The Devil Inside is filled to the brim with relatively unknown actors and actresses, including Fernanda Andrade, Simon Quarterman, Evan Helmuth, and Bonnie Morgan. Even so, it doesn’t look like that’s going to take away from the movie. In fact, it usually works toward the found-footage genre believability when its cast is not super well-known.

The Devil Inside opens Friday, January 6. Watch the red band trailer below:

This weekend, ‘Paranormal Activity 3’ hits theaters just in time to scare audiences for Halloween. Inappropriately titled, this film is not a part 3 but instead a prequel to the first two installments, taking place in 1988 where young sisters Katie and Kristi befriend an invisible entity who resides in their home. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the original. I didn’t hate it, I just felt that it was a bit over-hyped. I think the filmmakers did a great job on a shoestring budget, but it was hardly the scariest movie ever as some people coined it. While the second film definitely gets points for its creativity in time management (it takes place in the same time period as the original film), it basically rehashed the same scares without breaking new ground. I’m happy to report however, that part 3 absolutely surpasses its predecessors.

While the first two films focused on adults Katie and Kristi being haunted by an unknown ghost, ‘Paranormal Activity 3’ takes us back to their childhood when the haunting first began. While the first two spent more time with bickering couples and endless exposition, this prequel doesn’t waste any time getting to the good stuff. While still maximizing on the less is more routine, it’s actually the scariest one. If you’ve seen the first two then you know the shtick, creepy doors close on their own and unknown objects go bump in the night, but while ‘Paranormal Activity 2’ played it safe and repetitive, this one brings unexpected surprises to the mix that really pay off in the end.

Once again the cast is full of unknowns and I was stunned at how convincing the little girls were. Especially Jessica Tyler Brown as the young Kristi who was absolutely adorable while frightening at the same time. Another great aspect of this film is the addition of a camera attached to a rotating fan. This gives the audience a sense of dread as we get a quick glimpse of something terrifying and are forced to wait agonizingly for the fan to rotate back into view.

My only issue with the film was some open-ended plot holes in the climax that don’t exactly add up if you’ve seen the first two. I suspect this is an effort to allow room for more sequels.

To reveal anything else about the film would be unfair. I went into this film blind (the advertising showed very minimal footage) and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. If the first two scared you then you are definitely in for an even bigger treat. If the first two weren’t your cup of tea, I’d still recommend this one for its high levels of suspense and actual ability to scare me, not an easy task for a horror aficionado.

SEE IT.

Paranormal Activity is turning into a rule-breaking franchise. What do I mean? Well, please let me explain. The first Paranormal Activity , the Oren Peri directed film staring unknowns Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat, was made with a budget of a mere $11,000. Eleven thousand dollars– that’s nothing! And, in turn, made $193 million upon its released worldwide. I’m no mathematician but that’s a ridiculous profit.

And then, as if that Cinderella story for low budget films wasn’t enough to prove their Hollywood movie rule-breaking status, they made a sequel which I personally, and most everyone I talked to, preferred more than the first one. A sequel that’s better than the original?! When does that happen outside of Robert Klane’s Weekend at Bernie’s II? I’m telling you, the Paranormal Activity series is, perhaps rather fittingly, full of Hollywood mysteries!

So, when the trailer for the newest movie in the series, Paranormal Activity 3, was released, it makes sense that I jumped at the chance to watch it.

This new movie, written by the original film’s writer, Christopher Landon, and directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost– the same two directors who made Catfish, last year’s documentary, and maybe even mockumentary, that portrayed the fallacies of an internet-based relationship–also uses the same still-camera filming technique that defined the first two.

And while the trailer doesn’t reveal too much, it hints at the fact that while this is a different base family from the first two movies, there may be some sort of relation with Katie, the girl who started it all (literally started it all– that’s what happens when you’re haunted, apparently). And this time, two young girls seem to be at the center of the house-hauntedness, which is great news, because, well, let’s be real here, children are always scarier (ahem, The Orphan).

Paranormal Activity 3 is set for release on October 21, 2011– ripe for Halloween. Watch the trailer below:

Oren Peli didn’t have too much a chance to better show off his directing skills with 2009’s Paranormal Activity, especially since the movie was almost fully derived on its steady-cam night shoots. So if I brought up the psychological intensity that is the work of Edgar Allen Poe you would tend to think of ghosts, or “demonic spirits” as they were called in Paranormal Activity, thanks at least to “The Tell-Tale Heart”. The term “paranormal” can have so many loose translations, from Spielberg and poltergeists to M. Night Shyamalan and Signs and The Sixth Sense.

When nothing was happening on screen in Paranormal Activity you were sure to pay close attention, waiting for a door to slam or questioning whether it was the dusty film projector that just made that noise. After producing last month’s mega-hit sequel to his own film Peli has been extremely subtle about which projects he chooses to make. Last year it was announced Paramount had bought the rights to Area 51, an already-shot film written and directed by Peli, but that is still listed as being in post-production. According to Variety the man is now going to Eliza Graves, a stuck-on-the-shelf thriller loosely based on an Edgar Allen Poe short story of the same name.

It’s been in limbo for a while – Jodie Foster was originally supposed to direct with Ian McKellan and Natalie Portman at some point eyeing to also be involved. The Poe yarn, scribed for the movies by Joe Gangemi (another relatively seeking to break out – his singular feature work consists of the 2007 Emily Blunt film Wind Chill), tells of a Harvard medical graduate who along the watchtower of an insane asylum uncovers dangerous secrets about its inhabitants.

Think Shutter Island meets Paranormal Activity, and that’s pretty much all we have to work from. The interest here to a lesser extent is the open interpretation of Poe’s short story. Peli’s previous work implies he’s not only willing to get to the heart of the matter, but also to teasingly dance around it. How big this movie has the potential to be is still a mystery, but no doubt Eliza Graves will be a career-changer for Oren Peli and an equally great opportunity to reach out to fans of psychological horror with a name they all know and love.

Our top five list of the best low-budget horror has had to offer this past decade.

It’s hypocritical of me to write about low-budget horror movies when my all-time favorite is a huge notable, The Shining. But you generally can’t go wrong looking in the other direction for new ideas when movies start to get boring. Where better to scope out opportunity than in small places? Indie flicks as a medium are, let’s face it, hit or miss. But when one’s a hit it’s really a hit, and worth celebrating despite your initial thoughts, or if time being your movie was vastly pressured to go home.

This isn’t a new-age thing – take a gander toward American Graffiti, Rocky or, more relative to this writing, Halloween and The Evil Dead. I guess what recently kicked another wave of no-budget flicks that swing low would be The Blair Witch Project, Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez’s notorious “found footage” that boasted unsettling premonition over counting bodies. And sure, this point that lightning rarely strikes in the same place twice was further proven with the less-than-stellar reports which tagged Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, though it was yet again disproven just last weekend when Paranormal Activity 2 saw to over $41 million.

The aforementioned movie’s chill factor will always be up for debate, and there’s no arguing it’s a much better film than Blair Witch 2. Still, Hollywood has made bank on stockpiling sequel after sequel to low-budget fundamentals, most of the embryonic cast and crew then stepping away. Nonetheless, here are five movies of the past decade that continue to rock the crap out us –

1. 28 Days Later (2003) -

Danny Boyle’s first worthy release after 1996′s Trainspotting re-teamed the director with screenwriter Alex Garland for the best “zombie-movie-that-isn’t-really-a-zombie-movie” since George Romero’s The Crazies. 28 Days Later was bled for $8 million and grossed over ten times that by the end of its theatrical run, even causing means for a dynamic sequel 28 Weeks Later in 2007 (though only produced by Garland and Boyle.) It may be a loose horror movie, but it’s one that doesn’t stop fighting to keep multiple types of grit simultaneously unfolding.

2. [REC.] (2007) -

It may have spawned an ashamedly throwaway American remake (2008′s Quarantine), but [REC.] remains the scariest movie I’ve seen in recent memory. About a Spanish TV journalist who finds herself trapped inside a sickly apartment building, directors Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza’s horror captures reliable suspense leading into a worthy (and quite unsettling) finale, using a single night’s setting for a haunted house event with tricks at every loose floorboard and shut door.

3. Saw (2004) -

Yeah, it spawned a few unnecessary sequels…all right, many unnecessary sequels up to but not discrediting this Friday’s Saw 3D. Still, on a budget of just over a million bucks the foremost Saw used a quiet location and made it alive with fear. Also one to not only re-define “torture porn”, but grant it a certain arc.

4. Hatchet (2007) –

There’s not a movie more fun I’ve yet seen this year than writer-director Adam Green’s NC-17 cult hit. It’s like The Elephant Man if the guy were to follow up on what was in our heads at the time and actually act on the cruelness of his tormenters. The movie, about a creeper foundation named Victor Crowley who settles in a New Orleans swamp waiting for his next soiree of tits-and-liquor-loving prey, is dumb, cheesy, and oof, is it bloody. Hatchet doesn’t flinch even for a second – and reaps rewards for that. While Green’s sequel Hatchet II was pulled from theaters this past month after a single weekend, his first campy homage is at the moment available through Netflix and other rental sites, in all of its violent glory. It’s a screaming good time.

5. The House of the Devil (2009) –

Ti West’s film is a haunted one full of subtle creeps and moans. It’s not for everyone – I wasn’t even too hot on it at first sight. The House of the Devil spins a yarn through the eyes and ears of an elderly man, later revealed in the film, who hires a young woman to babysit an empty house in the middle of nowhere. There’s more, and though the title suggests a certain demonic growl we won’t have it here. An added kick? It takes place in the 1980s. It requires much patience; take it upon yourself to mix it up with your own atmospheric darkness. The movie fills out the rest.

The big surprise hit of the year so far has to be the low budget shockumentary (new buzz word of the moment that will be killed to death no pun intended before the end of the year) Paranormal Activity Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels divx that was made for 11K and so far has grossed $86 million domestically. Horror fans flocked to this new Blair Witch type of movie and the viral marketing buzz for the film has been racing, helping push the movie. The movie consists of shocks and enough creepy sound effects to get your heart pounding and sweat building. Multiple endings floating around the internet as well have helped keep this movie in the mind of fans. With the success it has had, there has been a lot of talk, and a lot of talk leads to the inevitable.

Paranormal Activity Sequel

download Deep in the Valley dvd

download Blindness movie

Paramount made the smart decision not to take this low budget flick and Hollywoodrize it the way most terrible horror thrillers end up. But it seems that Paramount has not learned from the HORRORibleness that was the Blair With sequel that came out a decade ago. Paramount is looking at making a big budget sequel to the surprise low budget hit.

Hollywood Reporter

Full Grown Men movie download

reports that Philipe Dauman (CEO of Viacom which owns Paramount) made a statement saying that a sequel would lack the element of surprise that has made PA a runaway hit.

While this is true and I completely agree that you cannot recreate the buzz and surprise of a movie like this which is why it has taken a decade to create a new type of hit like this. But a sequel? Really? I understand sequels and remakes are the go-to of studios today to bank on established franchises but there is not reason for this. The Blair Witch sequel was by far voted as the worst movie of the year if not decade and there is nothing that makes me believe that this won’t be the same way.

The Ruins movie download

I personally did not love Paranormal Activity and did not buy into the hype that others did when they claimed it was the freakiest movie they have ever saw. I also hated Blair Witch and almost walked out on that. I understand the fear that the movie plays with peoples mind, but it just didn’t do it for me. A sequel would be laughable, and I would just consider it a comedy for how horrible it would be, not cause there will be any horror to it.

Would see see a Paranormal Activity Sequel?

The Paranormal Activity phenomenon is here; stars Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat appeared both on The Jay Leno Show and the latest Entertainment Weekly cover this week alone, in addition to their buzzed-about film consistently appearing in the top ranks at the box office. It’s only natural for Sloat and Featherston to move on to other movies after riding this fame wave. And that’s exactly what’s happened.

Featherston has starred in an independent horror movie called Walking Distance. Distance is written and directed by Mel House, whose directing career only goes as far as two little fright-fests called Fade to Black and Closet Space (the next Oren Peli?). The film is about government-controlled medical experiments that happen to a ghost town. But now the producers of the film have renamed their flick: Experimental Activity. Yes, it looks like House, even though already having one of the hottest stars in Hollywood right now and a promising plot has retitled Walking Distance to an obvious Paranormal Activity rip-off.

President of Showcase Entertainment, who has international rights to the movie, David Jackson gave this statement to Variety: “Clearly having the fastest-rising star in the business is a feather in the cap, but we feel the film stands on its own as a cool psychological thriller.”

We’re wise enough to expect a number of movies that try to be as big of a hit as Activity. This weekend we’re given the first, The Fourth Kind, which so obviously looks like a Peli copy. However Mel House’s film has a strong enough plot to not have to ride on anyone else’s success. Even if he has the star on film already.

I fittingly caught “Paranormal Activity” on Halloween and wanted to share some thoughts. Nick reviewed the movie last week and thus the purpose of this post will be to talk about the movie rather than actually review it.

Minotaur movie

Heading into this movie, I heard many things. Some said it was one of the scariest movies they’ve ever seen, while others said that the movie was spooky but not to the extent of the hype it was receiving. Well, I thought this movie was exceptionally creepy; a truely frightening film that will keep me up at night for a while.

I do agree with Nick that the beginning 30 minutes or so was slow. However, the slow start seemed only to toy with my imagination. The viral buzz of this movie had me eagerly awaiting to be scared out of my shoes. Thus, the slow start pretty much made the anticipation grow. It also set the stage for a startling final 30 minutes.

The movie is shot from a night time to day time analysis of a couple being haunted by a demon. At night, the craziness happens, and during the day they seem to analyze the previous night’s spook fest via the footage they record. Each time the movie goes into night mode, it’s basically “here we go again.” And each night gets more ridiculous then the one it follows.

This film takes the proverbial ‘dump’ on the “Blair Witch.” The Blair Witch made me more dizzy than scared, while Paranormal Activity was like watching a documentary of ‘The Exorcist’ on The Discovery Channel. When I saw her get pulled our of bed and dragged down the hall, I think I lost it. My heart started to beat outside my body and thoughts of me making sure I had a big enough to blanket to cover my legs sunk in.

There are also a couple endings of this movie running around the film world. And now, I want to see each one.

Finally, a couple of questions popped into my mind that I wanted to share.

The Conversation 1. Why didn’t the guy dump the girl? – especially after he saw footage of her for 2 hours being possessed just staring at him sleeping. – This girl brought a demon, a DEMON, into your house. I don’t know about you but that’s a deal breaker for me.

2. Why didn’t they close the door at night? Come on, just friggin close it

3. Why were they toying with demons? – umm, idiots

4. Why didn’t they buy a proton pack? DUH

download Left for Dead movie

5. And again, why didn’t he dump the crap out of her? – Dude, come on.

Jokes aside, the film creeped the hell out of me. Check out this movie if you can.

Keep Bantering

Oren Peli’s ghost story is hit-and-miss.

The first horror movie I ever saw was Stephen King’s IT

смотреть порно фото бес платно

, which remains to be the scariest movie I have ever seen. I know it’s cheesy and all, but it’s because I saw it at such a young age that I continue to be terrified of clowns to this day. That being said, there was no reason that I didn’t enjoy it. Although horror movies nowadays aren’t as good as they were back then. The Saw Hancock movie series was promising however more of a thriller/bloodbath, now that we’re at the sixth installment. What happened to the days of The Blair Witch Project, Cujo and, yes, IT? Just a few days ago, I heard about this movie at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas called Paranormal Activity

порно 15 летних проститутки донецка

that is supposed to be “one of the scariest movies of all time” according to Bloody-Disgusting. They also promise that it will bring nightmares. Hell yes.
порновидео просмотр бесплaтно
From the only trailer that Activity The Leon (Professional) download has released, you have no idea what it is about besides that it involves an evil spirit that haunts a couple’s home. Funny thing is that this is writer-director Oren Peli’s first major movie. He studied graphics and animations. The same can be said of the writer-directors of The Blair Witch Project, Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez. They both went on to make bigger movies, however I have to assume that Witch Project is what they owe all of their success to. The reason I’m so excited for this movie is because I was too young to even remember Blair Witch Project

Ice Station Zebra video

and now that I’m old enough, Paranormal Activity Shattered video could be generation Y’s low-budget, memorable horror movie. I’ll tell you what I think of it when the screenings reach Connecticut.
